Your Mental Armour

A happy mind for life, work and trauma

Your Mental Armour is foundational to all aspects of life and work — impacting all your thoughts, emotions, relations, behaviours and performance.

Within a two-week span, I learned I was going to be a father and that I had a malignant brain tumour from lymphoma. That is to say: You can't always control your circumstances, but you can build Your Mental Armour to be more present for life's pleasures, increase focus, well-being and productivity, and to reduce stress and prepare for and get through life's challenges.

In my presentation, I hope to inspire others by sharing my story about Climbing Mount Cancer and my mental tools for getting the most out of life and work (such as goal setting, meditation, mindfullnessstoic techniquesgratitude journaling, breathing techniques, floating, Smiling Conversations and more)

The science-backed mental and physical benefits of investing in Your Mental Armour, such as brain growth, enhanced concentration, attention, cognitive functioning, patience, empathy and stress management, are beneficial both i your private and work life . And maybe you'll find a deeper source happiness

Our approach to Your Mental Armour is a complementary one. We hold the conviction that it's entirely possible to sustain a successful career, nurture relationships, enjoy hobbies, and cultivate interests while simultaneously learning to enjoy life more, be more present, and develop a resilient Mental Armor, and that integrating meditation and other mental exercises into one's routine can be easier than incorporating physical activity into a busy schedule.

A worker with resilient Mental Armour is not only a better worker and co-worker but also a key driver of enhanced productivity, efficiency, and innovation within a organisation. Resilience allows employees to handle stress, deadlines, and challenges more effectively, minimising downtime/sick leave and maintaining high levels of performance even under pressure. By investing in giving your workers tools and insights to enhance their Mental Armour, companies can see a tangible improvement in task completion rates, quality of work, and overall output. This investment in Your Collective Mental Armour translates into a competitive edge, as resilient teams are better equipped to cooperate, meet targets, innovate, and push the boundaries of what is possible within tight timeframes.

Hi!

My name is Bastian Sundling, I am 33 years old and I am an positive, open, curious and tolerant guy. I am a speaker, the founder of Your Mental Armour, a litigation business lawyer, husband, father, mindfulness practitioner, writer, communicator, and much more - not necessarily in a specific order. I have climbed Mount Cancer, survived and thrived mentally,

My meditation practice has accumulated well over 100,000 minutes of formal practice. It has been life changing! Besides the immediate and ever-growing science-backed mental and physical benefits I experience, my mediation practice and other tools has helped me to manage the physical and emotional pain from my brain surgery, the cancer treatment, and the rehabilitation. And maybe most importantly, it has led to a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me.

In my practice, I practise being fully present in the moment, observing thoughts, feelings and sensations without judgement and with kindness and curiosity. I practise through a secular and science-backed lens, emphasising the value for psychological well-being and self-inquiry without the need for religious beliefs.

Mindfulness 101 serves as an intro to meditation and mindfulness, designed for beginners or those seeking to reinforce their basic understanding. The deep mindfulness practice shared in Mindfulness 201 can lead to you "waking up" from an autopilot state and give profound insights into your mind. In Other Tools I share some of important tools (than meditation) I used for Climbing Mount Cancer and that I share in in my presentation.

My Story

I underwent brain surgery on Thursday, January 11th 2024, to remove  a malignant tumour in the cerebellum caused by lymphoma. The tumour had started to press against my brain and skull, causing unbearable headaches and nausea. The brain surgery lasted for 3 hours and was successful: they opened my skull, removed more than half of the left side of my cerebellum, including the entire tumour, and I survived.  After the surgery, I experienced significantly reduced balance and nausea, as well as decreased coordination and fine motor skills in the left side of my body. My condition required a marathon of cancer treatment and extensive rehabilitation to get to were I am today.

This personal journey accelerated my motivation for wanting to share my experiences and tools for living the best life possible. The core of my motivation lies in the belief that the psychological struggles often pose a greater challenge than the physical obstacles during life’s crises. My firsthand experience has shown me the significant role that Your Mental Armour plays in well-being, enjoying life's pleasures more, preparing for the challenges an life’s crises - because when shit hits the fan, it is too late to start building the fundament. This resilient mental armour did not make the journey easy, but it made it possible.
